The Africa Baseball and Softball Promotion Foundation (J-ABS, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Shinya Tomonari) will hold a "Human Resource Development Baseball Seminar" in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria in West Africa, from May 21st to 22nd, with former Major League players Hideki Matsui and Kenshin Kawakami providing instruction online and in other formats.
The "Human Development Baseball Seminar" teaches not only the techniques and knowledge of baseball, which originated in America, but also Japanese baseball principles such as "following discipline" and "respecting opponents." It is one of the programs of the "Africa 55 Koshien Project," which aims to hold national tournaments (Koshien tournaments) in various African countries.
Prior to the seminar, Hideki Matsui, a J-ABS Executive Dream Partner residing in New York, reviewed batting footage of Nigerian players (ages 15-20) that had been filmed in advance. He then filmed a video of himself discussing points to note and areas for improvement. Coaches and players will be watching this video on the day of the seminar.
In addition, J-ABS supporter Kenshin Kawakami will connect directly online and try interactive instruction, providing technical guidance and answering questions from Japan.
