"Developing people through baseball"
J- ABS contributes to human resource development in various African countries through its "Baseballership® Education" method, which conveys the spirit of baseball (*) .
Furthermore, we are giving back the results of our efforts to Japanese society.
*The Way of Baseball = Japanese baseball culture that conveys values such as "discipline," "respect," and "justice."
What is Baseball Spirit Education®?
Baseballership® Education is an educational method developed by J-ABS that fosters discipline, respect, and justice in young people in Africa through baseball, and cultivates individuals who will lead the future of their communities . While Africa is experiencing economic growth, it faces many social challenges such as poverty, conflict, and lack of education. In particular, there is a significant lack of education, especially emotional education (non-cognitive skills) such as physical education, music, and art.
Non-cognitive abilities refer to the ability to cultivate "human capabilities" such as: • The ability to think for oneself • The ability to feel • Creativity and individuality • Morality and values. We are confident that these can be nurtured through baseball and softball. Through our activities in Africa, we have seen many children grow up embodying discipline, respect, and justice, and sportsmanship. Japanese-style baseball is a hybrid of Japanese baseball and American-style baseball, which embodies the spirit of "the way of baseball," including: • Keeping the field clean • Being punctual • Respecting etiquette. These values have been accepted in Africa and practiced in countries such as Ghana, Tanzania, and South Sudan. Based on these experiences, J-ABS has developed Baseball + Sportsmanship = Baseballership Education. Through this education, young people who have acquired discipline, respect, and justice will grow into leaders and role models in their communities, contributing to Africa's development. At the same time, they are expected to become Japanophiles and contribute to exchanges with Japan.

Africa
■ Africa 55 Koshien Project

This is the flagship project of J-ABS. Targeting 54 African countries and one region, the project aims to promote human development and the spread of baseball through baseball, with a 25-year plan to expand the hosting of national tournaments (the equivalent of the Koshien tournament) in each African country. It primarily involves three activities.
[1] Support for improving the playing environment, such as ground maintenance methods and support for baseball equipment.
[2] In addition to baseball skills, the Japanese style of baseball coaching, which fosters sportsmanship, has been promoted.
[3] Hosting domestic tournaments similar to the Koshien tournament in each country to provide opportunities to set goals and take on challenges.
